Palestine
The Arab American Institute (AAI) strongly supports genuine efforts towards a just, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that will result in two states, Palestine and Israel, living side by side in peace and security.
The United States, through sustained, balanced, constructive engagement, can facilitate a peaceful, lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, so essential to any long term peace and security in the Middle East. The establishment of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security, directly negotiated between both parties is in the best interest of our country as well as Palestinians and Israelis. Congress and the Administration should demonstrate a positive, constructive American peacemaking role through public messages that reduce provocative behaviors and unify all parties around the common purpose of peace.
AAI supports U.S. diplomacy that will work towards the creation of two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, living side-by-side in peace and security–a Palestine that is viable, contiguous, sovereign and independent alongside an Israel that has secure recognized borders. The United States should oppose unilateral measures that would prejudge the outcome of the final status of Jerusalem; a resolution to the Palestinian refugee problem; and other outstanding issues, and support a final settlement based on good faith negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
